Lapua Chains partner in Finnish movie production

Lapua Chains has made an agreement with the movie producer Blancface Oy to be a partner in the production of the movie LAPUA 1976. Lapua Chains will be able to use this in our marketing in different ways, and the cooperation also includes an agreement to film parts of the movie in our factory. Furthermore, the agreement contains an option for us to produce a 10-15 minute-long historical documentary on the history of Lapua Chains. The movie will be released in 2023.

The movie LAPUA 1976 will tell the story of the blasting disaster that occurred at the Lapua cartridge factory on April 13th, 1976. The accident is one of the most destructive that has taken place in peacetime in Finland. The movie is a drama based on true events of people closely involved in the disaster. The focus of the movie is on the events of the accident, the shock, and the crises that followed, and eventually how the people and the community rose from the crises.

The LAPUA 1976 production is mainly based on local forces from Ostrobothnia, with some well-known Finnish actors, such as Hannu-Pekka Björkman.

Our Sales and Marketing Director, Topi Pienimäki, says that the accident is also an inseparable and tragic part of Lapua Chains' history because the manufacturing of chains was then and long thereafter a part of the operations at the Lapua Cartridge factory. It was only last year that the last person at Lapua Chains who experienced the explosion retired. This explains why the partnership is very important to us and much more than only a marketing opportunity. To us, this is strongly respectful of the history of Lapua and our duty to be a part of telling this history.
